Chappal Protest Gang

Every brown kid understands the power of the chappal.
When we were scared, parents smacked the object of our fears with their slipper and magically, we felt better. When we misbehaved, a raised chappal meant one thing: you’re in trouble.
To me the chappal is a symbol of disdain. Of righteous exasperation. Of the particular fury of people who have been pushed too far and have run out of patience for politeness.
This series is for the protest gang. The ones who show up in slippers because they didn’t have time to change. The ones who are angry and unashamed of it. The chappal holds a very important position in the world of brown infography, and now it belongs on your back.
