Every brown kids understands well the power of the ‘chappal’ [which means slipper in Hindi]. When we were scared, parents smacked the object of our fears with their slipper, and magically we felt better. When we misbehaved, a raised slipper quite simply meant, “you’re in trouble”.
To me the chappal is symbol of our disdain, and holds a very important position within the world of brown infography.
